How to Repurpose your Content

Author: Dayana Preval

As a podcaster, we all come to a moment where we have to pause and ask ourselves, what now? Sometimes it feels like you've said everything that you had to say. Or maybe you're feeling that other people are sharing the same content as you are. Well, I hate to break it to you, but there's nothing new under the sun. Yes, someone probably did come out with similar content, but so what? You didn't create your podcast to be in the shadows of others. Be grateful that you've made it to a point where you can challenge your way of thinking to expand and repurpose your content.

It's always important to go back to your why. Why did you create this podcast? How is this content relevant to you and your audience? Why should I keep going? These questions don't need an answer in one sitting; it's not a race but more of a reality check of where you stand. In a state of re-purposing, do some research and connect with your audience and see what they NEED. I think sometimes, we get so caught up in our minds that we forget that we created a space for our audience to communicate and relate to. We're so focused on the final product; we don't even think about the steps that we take to create meaningful content.

What are your needs?

As a millennial, I remember going through the developing stages of my podcast and thought about all the ways I yearned for representation. Therefore, my podcast was a direct reflection of my personal needs.

Give yourself some grace

I know that social media is continuously growing, but don't beat yourself because you're not posting as much or coming out with content. Your audience will respect that you need time to create something great for them and you.

Research

Stay in the loop with hot topics going on in your niche. Play around with some new tools/resources.

Don't be afraid to try something new

You're allowed to grow. Your content won't always sound the same, and that's okay. The more experiences and insight you gain, the clarity and the direction of your podcast will shift. Some people will love it, others won't, but those who need it will always come through.

I hope these tips help as you navigate through repurposing your content.
