Podchaser Review
For the past two weeks I have been trying to get to grips with Podchaser. The first question is how to define the platform? I would describe it as a fan club for podcasts. We all want our podcast to be discovered by people who are our ideal listeners and are seeking the information or looking for the entertainment we create.
On larger platforms being noticed can be hard. Podchaser solves this problem by allowing you, the podcaster, to create lists of podcasts that you love and to share them with other podcasters on the platform.
If you are like me there’s a wide gap between those two numbers, keeping up with your favorite shows and in normal times finding the time to listen can be difficult.
On Podchaser you create lists of podcasts that are united by a theme you choose. You can be really specific with the title for your list. For example I chose Expats.
Then you search and save podcasts that are about your topic. You can make the list private or you can publish it so that it can be seen by others.
What collection do you want to create that doesn't fall neatly into one of Apple Podcasts categories?
You can also create a list of episodes from different podcasts and share that too.
In order to get the best out of the platform you can follow podcasts that you enjoy, you can follow podcast creators or you can follow a host. Each time they release a new episode you’ll be notified. Be notified about content that you care about, share what you are interested in and gain some new followers.
If you need a bigger reason to get on this platform, you can respond to reviews.
If a listener has provided a review for your podcast on Podchaser, you can send them a thank you message on the platform. This is a great way to connect with people who are excited about your content.
Getting up and running on the platform is easy. Sign up, claim your podcast and then you can start creating your lists.
At first I found it a little hard to navigate and know what I should be doing. So when you have claimed your podcast, make a start by filling in all the information they ask you for; what shows you like, follow a few of your favorites. Then go to your profile and start to create your own lists picture 1.
Decide what type of list you want to create
Title your list
Select Podcasts that fit the category you have created.
Now that you have created your first list share it. Find other lists to follow.
Podchaser works well as an aggregator and as a platform for exposure in the podcast community and discovery by people you know listen to podcasts.
