With podcasting continuously growing as a trusted media outlet we are seeing more and more tools, apps and services geared to the industry. In most cases this is great because it gives podcasters more avenues for support and to engage our audience. On the other hand, it can leave you with more questions than before.

One of the age long questions being where should I stream my podcast. So lets dive into a few podcast streaming platforms and what they have to offer.

Top 5 Directories

Website

So before we dive into outside sources I have to note that its important to one have a podcast website but also provide the capability to stream your podcast from your site.

This is especially true if you use your podcast to generate leads for your business. Your audience may come for the podcast but will look at other elements on your site.

Apple

Let’s be honest if your podcast isn’t on Apple is it truly a podcast. I know it can be difficult at times to get your show on Apple, but once you do, it can boast your discoverability. According to Edison research (Feb 2020) 77% of podcast listeners come from Apple.

Spotify

Spotify is the number two listening platform in the US. According to Edison (Feb 2020) 11% of podcast listeners tune in from Spotify.

Google Podcasts

Though only responsible for approximately 3% of podcast listens, Google play allows you to show in Googles search engine and for those who utilize a Google Home device to search for your podcast. Google is also a great alternative for non-apple users to find your podcast.

Stitcher

Stitcher similarly to Google accounts for 3% of podcast listens. Stitcher launched in 2008; hence, has been around a lot longer, providing access to a wide array of listeners.

Established in 2016; Castbox currently has over 20 million users and more than 95 million episodes. They tout themselves as having advanced artificial intelligence that recommends shows based on a listeners listening habits.

Offers a human curated feature list that you can submit your show for review once listed on their platform.

Think of it as a collective Patreon platform. Podcast listeners pay $5.99 a month, which gets split amongst shows that they support. This provides an avenue for a podcast audience to support their show monetarily.

Podchaser

Podchaser is like a fan club for podcasts. Podcast listeners can create playlists, see what their friends are listening to and much more.

Listen Notes

Listen Notes is a search engine for podcasts; think of it as the Goggle for podcasting. Listeners have the ability to create their own podcast playlist and can search by topic or person.

iHeart Radio

iHeart Radio is the number 1 radio listening platform; hence, a great platform to potentially convert them to podcast listeners.

Pandora

Pandora podcast is a little more exclusive; hence, getting your podcast on their platform can really boost your listenership in that they curate their catalog based on their audience.

Bullhorn

What stands out most about Bullhorn is that listeners don’t have to use their data to tune into their favorite shows.

Audioburst

Similar to Listen Notes Audioburst allows for more in-depth keyword searches making it a great tool for listeners to find new shows on specific topics o interest.
